DC Eagles United secures ticket to finals

DC Eagles United has become the first team in the league to secure a ticket to the finals, with a game to spare. This was done at the expense of their local rivals, DC Eagles Kings, who are officially eliminated and can only start rebuilding going forward.

Looking back, United has come a long way, with a below-par performance in the 2018 season which ended in elimination at the group stages. The current season started badly with a 6-4 loss to MFC and a succession of 2 draws in the following games against Clay FC and DC Eagles Kings FC. Since then, they have managed to maintain a winning streak, and often had to dig deep to grind out results when necessary.

Mathematically, the 2nd spot is still open with MFC in the driving seat. However, considering how the last season ended when E-Money FC dramatically crashed out based on goal-difference, one can never tell how this season will end.

The next few weeks will be pivotal as both Clay FC and Invincible FC are still in the running, and will be looking to stake a claim for the other final spot.
