Clay FC grinds out win in first game of the season
Clay FC kicked off the the 2020 Recreational Soccer League (RSL) Season with a win against the hosts, Harmony FC. The game was a keenly contested match, with Harmony brimming with an extra-ordinarily high level of confidence from successive wins in all their pre-season games.
The final scoreline does not entirely tell the story of how the game went. Harmony FC dominated the game with their quick passes, break-out plays and had several attempts on goal – which they were unable to convert.
With Clay FC’s top striker, Shola Aroniyo (with 6 goals last season) out injured for the season, questions were being asked where the goals were going to come from. However, Ahmad Isiaka was able to break the deadlock by scoring the first goal of the season with a well placed goal in the 7th minute. With good defensive play and a dogged approach to maintain control, Clay FC was able to stay focused and grab all 3 points.
